Hotter & Bolder Than Ever In Midlife

Hot Takes From My Conversation with Tracy Tutor

Hi, good peeps! I’m so excited to share some hot takes with you from my conversation with Tracy Tutor. We talked all about conquering our fears and bringing sexy back in midlife. Tracy is a best-selling author and top-selling Los Angeles realtor to celebrities and the Hollywood elite. You’ve probably seen her on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing. In her first book, Fear is a Four Letter Word, she’s helping women see themselves and give us the actual tools and steps we need to acknowledge our personal fears and move through them… just what we need to recreate ourselves in the second half of life.

Get your golden sh*t shovels because we are going to dig deep into the details of her no-bullshit approach to managing fear. This episode is dripping with golden nuggets and I’m excited to share some of them with you. We’re going to get into managing fear, trusting our intuition, and how to look and feel sexy in midlife. And, if you want to hear all about her relationship with her boyfriend who is much younger, you must listen to the episode. You might not be able to relate, but it sure is a fun chat. So, in the words of the great Shania Twain… “Let’s go, girls.”

Time To Take Inventory

One of the most important steps that Tracy outlines is recognizing your strengths and weaknesses, and really taking a personal inventory of who we are…! This means the good, the bad, and the fugly. The only way that we can move through fear is to face it. We may not even realize how much we’ve been holding back out of fear. That’s why we have to take a closer look at what we say “yes” or “no” to…we have to look at what we really want and what may be holding us back.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Talk to the people closest to you. Go to the people you trust the most and ask them to truthfully tell you about your flaws or things that they notice you struggle with.

  • Tune into the different parts of your life. What do you struggle with in the different areas of your life? How does that uniquely affect your work, personal relationships, and family life?

Matter of Trust

Tracy emphasizes the importance of trusting your intuition because that’s a real superpower for women. It’s one of the most important skills that women have and we don’t take advantage of it enough. She also gives us the steps we need in keeping ourselves together when everything goes wrong, and listening to our gut.

Tips to Start Tapping Into Your Intuition:

  • Get quiet and check in with your body. What is your body telling you about a person or situation? What might you do if you trusted that instinct?

  • Start small. You may not feel ready to follow your intuition for everything yet, so start small. It could be something as simple as picking a restaurant.

  • More inventory. Think about past situations where you knew something wasn’t right, but you went along with it anyway. How did that make you feel?

Hotter With Age

Tracy also gives us all her tips and tricks to staying fit. She’s got the hottest bod of any 45 year old and knows exactly what to do, and what not to do (like she says spinning, duh). She also is a killer dresser and teaches us how to use a tailor for simple tricks to tailored outfits that are flattering...she has figured out the essentials that all women need, and how to make your Zara dress look like a designer dress.

Tracy’s Tips for Midlife Hotness:

  • Recreate your wardrobe. Make friends with your local tailor. You can update pieces that you love by taking them in and having them fixed to fit your body perfectly.

  • Steady cardio. Tracy shares, “I do a program on my treadmill where it's about heart rate. So I keep my heart rate between 130 and at the highest 150. It really works for me to keep it in the fat-burning mode. I like it between 130 and 145. It's more long-term fat burning than anything else and my knees don't hurt.”

  • Intermittent fasting. Tracy’s not militant about what she does or doesn’t eat, but she will engage in intermittent fasting a few times a week. She recommends basing everything on what you feel that day. She definitely goes for it when she feels like it.

  • Better sex with age. Tracy shared that she’s having the best sex of her life. (Go girl!) I asked if she thought it was because of her younger boyfriend and her answer was so inspiring, “...I think that it's just me. It's my ability to be more open. It's my ability to understand what I like and what I don't like, and kick it up a notch. I think that women in their 40’s can do that, obviously a little bit better than women in their 20’s.”

I hope this juicy take has got you feeling hot, inspired, and fearless. I’m ready to call my tailor, order more leggings for my workouts, and listen to those intuitive midlife itchies. I hope you have some meaningful conversations with the people you trust to help you move through your fears and maybe you amp up the cardio while you’re at it. Remember, people will judge you no matter what you do or don’t do. So you might as well get your ass in the ring and go for it!
