Finding Your Passion & Being Successful in Midlife

6 Tips To Figuring Out the Second Half of Life

We are having an open conversation about putting yourself out there to get noticed, facing obstacles, and juggling business and family in midlife.

My guest for this episode was Melinda Maria. Melinda is a badass female entrepreneur who designs gorgeous jewelry worn by A-list celebrities, influencers, and empowered women taking on the world. Melinda's jewels make you feel luxurious, sexy, edgy, and classy without worrying about the price.

We are going to dig deep and find the sweet spot between following our passion and being successful in the second half of life.

Melinda’s Top 6 Tips

  • Find your passion and success will find you. Pick one thing you love and put everything into it. Seriously…just pick ONE thing and become f#%king amazing at it! Otherwise, it can be an uphill battle.

  • Take the opportunity to learn something new. Everyone has different experiences. So, even one new little tidbit of information can be so life-changing. Melinda explained that she looks to her friends who are entrepreneurs. They share their obstacles, challenges, and successes while running a business. This information is always helpful and you will have something to learn as long as you keep your eyes open.

  • Do what you love.  Starting a business is hard…extremely hard. And it’s even harder if you aren’t passionate about it. There are a lot of days where entrepreneurs can work 12 + hours a day and if you aren’t excited to get up and work every day…what’s the point in continuing? Passion breeds success. When you are passionate about what you do and pour your entire self into it…that’s when you become successful.

  • Don't be scared…just start. A lot of people have dreams of creating their own brands or businesses, but get nervous. Then they start to question every little thing about themselves. Are people going to like it? How do I grow a business? I don’t have any experience. The peanut gallery thoughts can be endless if you let them. Just start small. You honestly just have to start somewhere. Melinda explains the best thing to do is research the marketplace. See what’s missing and what you can offer. From there, create a name and logo and just dive right in.

  • Put yourself out there and be scrappy. You have to be willing to get in the ring. No matter how many times you get turned down…just keep going. You can’t let those setbacks get you down. If you truly want to start your own business and be successful, you have to be willing to get knocked down and pick yourself right back up. You have to be willing to be scared, say f#%k it, and just keep going. Be determined that this is something you are going to do for yourself!

  • Push through the discouragement and struggles. Getting over a funk where things don't seem to be working can be really hard but you have to push through. We often see successful businesses and think that it must have just been easy for them. In reality, all businesses have struggled. Try to find some comfort in knowing you aren’t alone. You can't compare your year one or year two with someone else's year ten.

I hope that Melinda's female entrepreneurial secrets and advice helped you find your sweet spot for success in midlife! She’s following her passions and looking f#%king amazing while doing it… I want that for you, peeps! You may have to dig through some layers of shit along the way, but you are more than worth it! You are gold.
