29: Why “me” in This Midlife Journey? Midlife Self-Obsession is Approved

Show Notes

Join me, Dr. Sarah Milken, in an open and honest conversation called, Why Me in This Midlife Journey? Midlife Self-Obsession is Approved, with my dear friend and first-ever guest of the podcast, Angella Nazarian. During this anniversary episode, I’m handing the reigns over to Angella to interview me about what I’ve been calling my midlife remix, aka reinventing myself in my 40s, and starting this passion project, The Flexible Neurotic Podcast. We talk about the reinvention journey and why every woman should start putting themselves first in midlife, like I did this past year.

Having Angella interview me definitely relieved some of the pressure I was feeling from having to talk to myself in the last week’s solocast rant. We were able to just bullshit as two friends about my journey over the last year. Angella inspires me since she’s this well-established, ever-evolving, self remixing, and intelligent badass. Talking to her and hearing what she honestly thinks about this podcast confirms the meaning that I have found in this podcast, resonating with so many midlife women.

We talk all of the reasons why women HAVE to remix during midlife. Life expectancy rates are increasing, we can’t just give up on everything when we hit our 40s. It’s time to self-reflect and do things you actually want to do. Dare you to become obsessed with yourself.

Some highlights:

  • Letting go of being a performance-driven perfectionist

  • Starting over, and being comfortable with starting over, in midlife

  • Quitting thought processes that don’t help you

  • Learning to become obsessed with yourself in midlife

  • Why blaming yourself is a habit we should all drop

  • Stopping ageist thinking
